The extended-length (EL) Expeditions are 15-inches longer and regardless of the body style, there is always an eight passenger capacity unless the optional captain's chairs are utilized then that is reduced to seven-passengers. The standard engine for the 2017 Ford Expedition would be the turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine that is able to produce up to 365 horsepower and 420 lb.-ft of torque. There is also the standard six-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. When properly configured and equipped, the 2017 Ford Expedition can tow up to 9,200 pounds. The standard length Expedition is able to deliver a fuel economy of 18 miles per gallon combined with rear-wheel drive and 17 miles per gallon combined when equipped with 4WD.

More standard features include a leather-wrapped manual tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, Ford's Sync voice-control system, a 4.2-inch screen interface, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, and a six-speaker sound system with CD player, satellite radio, USB interface, auxiliary jack, and rear audio controls. The interior cabin of the 2017 Ford Expedition is spacious and luxurious which all drivers will enjoy. The standard 40/20/40 split second-row seats can slide and recline for added comfort and includes a center section that is able to scoot forward in order to put small children within reach of the driver. The third row seat also allows for the fold flat into the floor function which is perfect for extending cargo space. The standard 2017 Expedition contains 18.6 cubic feet behind the third row and the Expedition EL offers 42.6 cubic feet behind the third row. When both the rows of rear seating are folded flat the overall cargo capacity measures out to 108.3 cubic feet.
